Halloween 2016

Halloween 2016 was one for the books folks! The kids are at such a fun age and are starting to really get into the holidays (basically, the best reason for being a parent, amiright!?!). We Pinterest failed on a family costume (next year!maybe.). Hudson and Harper were astronauts and Lucy was the odd (but adorable!) man out, going as penguin. I could not stop cracking up over her tiny little webbed feet.

It reminds me of growing up, my younger brother and I would have adorable matching costumes…dragon and unicorn, She-ra and He-man, etc and poor third child, Brooke was always a bunny. Seriously, I think she was a bunny for like 5 years.

We were hit by the preschool plague of 2016 last week so we really rallied on Halloween day and carved our pumpkins, roasted the seeds and participated in other general merriment. We captured it all on the snaps if you’re following me over there.

We had a quick dinner and hit the streets for trick or treat just before 6. Our neighborhood is seriously the best at Halloween. So many fun families and kids out! There were driveway parties with tons of candy and fun. One house was even passing out jell-o shots for the adults. They told us they had teenagers now and know that parents need a morale boost on Halloween. It takes a village, people. 😉

The big kids actually hoofed the neighborhood on foot which was pretty impressive. After every house Harper asked, “so are we going home now?”, she was so thrilled that we were going to keep going and her little “trick or treat!” was so cute.

We made it home around 7:30 and sorted our loot and made the kids pay up on the parent tax.

Sidebar here- the kids got so much candy! I’m not sure what to do with it all as my jeans are telling me to get it out of the house immediately. I read a suggestion that each kiddo can choose ten pieces and then they mail the rest off to soldiers stationed overseas. That sounds like a plan to me but I’m curious what other families with really young kids do!

I hope your Halloween was filled with just as much fun as you could handle.
